CrescentCare recognized once again as an LGBTQ+ Healthcare Equality Leader
CrescentCare is proud to be recognized once again as an LGBTQ+ Healthcare Equality Leader in the Human Rights Campaign’s 2026 Healthcare Equality Index. The Healthcare Equality Index (HEI) has become the national LGBTQ+ benchmarking standard used to evaluate healthcare facilities’ policies and practices related to their LGBTQ+ patients, visitors, and employees.
“The LGBTQ+ community has always been at the heart of CrescentCare’s mission, and we are proud to continue this work despite a healthcare and policy environment determined to shrink access,” says Alice Riener, CEO of CrescentCare.
CrescentCare was founded in 1983 as NO/AIDS Task Force in response to the AIDS crisis in New Orleans. Over the years, the organization has evolved and expanded without losing sight of its commitment to the evolving needs of people living with HIV and the LGBTQ+ community.
