Marilla Chapman is a Licensed Clinical Social Worker and therapist at CrescentCare. She received a BA in Political Science from the University of Southern Maine and a MSW from Southern University at New Orleans. She is a transgender woman who works to support LGBTQI+ individuals, develop equity, and advance inclusion. Marilla has previous experience at DCFS and has been with CrescentCare since 2021, starting in Permanent Supportive Housing before joining the therapy team. She uses various evidence-based interventions including Internal Family Systems, Solution-Focused Therapy, Cognitive Processing Therapy (CPT), Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR), and mindfulness practices. When not helping clients, Marilla enjoys spending time with her black German Shepherd, has a fondness for wearing black, and believes in the powers of fast food and (black) stilettos.
